The class of '65 was the last class made up of students who attended the one room school houses before the consolidation. Also, one of the earliest to have the class grow in size due to the new housing additions in Burnsville. The '65 flood not only took students our of the classroom to sandbag it meant that many parents/family members spent much of the duration with friends or co-workers on the north side of the MN river due to limited methods of crossing the river. This class also graduated after a lightening storm that took out the power to the building a few days before graduation. Power was restored within hours of the ceremony .

At graduation, Mr Metcalf noted that while the "65 class numbered less than 150 the first grade classes that year numbered around 1200 showing the population growth in Burnsville in recent years.
