After 29 years Eldon Kohls retires from City 1995The City of Burnsville's employee newsletter - Internal Communicator- June 2, 1995 recognizes Eldon Kohls who retires.
Eldon Kohls retired from the City of Burnsville on May 31 after 29 years of service. He served as a heavy equipment operator in the Public Works Department... Eldon was born and raised in Burnsville. He operated a farm, which was located near County Road 42 and Chicago Avenue. In 1966 he came to work at the Village of Burnsville, one of 15 total City employees.
As a life long resident of the Burnsville Community, Eldon is a rare find. He grew up on a farm and can still tell you where the farms were once located in the city. His father served as Treasurer of Burnsville Townshiop from 1936 - 1946. His grandfather, who farmed in the area of what is now Alimagnet Park, planted apple trees that are still standing in the park today. He attended Rosemount High School and remains friends with such classmates as Ray Connelly.
Eldon moved off the tractor and into the driver's seat of the City's street maintenance equipment in 1966...
